And even if you've been doing yoga for years, you're not the same person as you were 5, 10 or more years ago. Your practice has probably changed just like you have. Because if we take it seriously, we are a different person today than we were yesterday, with new experiences, new encounters and new insights. Every hour on the mat is different and we meet ourselves again and again - a little differently every time. Every day is a new beginning and doesn't that offer tremendous opportunities? 🌈😍

Camel pose, also known as Ustrasana, is a powerful heart-opening asana in yoga. It stretches the entire front of the body, strengthens the back and improves the flexibility of the spine. Camel pose helps to let go of emotions and creates space for love and joy. 🌟🧘‍♀️

You can practise it with your hands on your heels or with your hands on your lower back (recommended if you have lower back problems).

The spine must be well warmed up before doing Camel Pose. You can do cat cow, sun salutations and gentle backbends beforehand to prepare.

We start sitting on our heels. From here, come up onto your knees, which are now hip-width apart. Place your hands on your lower back and slowly bend backwards, keeping your hips aligned in front over your knees. Bring one hand after the other to your heels. Breathe in deeply and feel your heart area open up.

After a few breaths, come out slowly by placing your hands protectively on your lower back, coming forward and feeling the child's posture.

Our yoga classes take place on the beautiful island of Tenerife. 🌴Why here? I moved from Germany to Tenerife over 7 years ago and the island in the middle of the ocean is still something special for me Of course there are sunny and dark sides, but I really love many aspects. Today I would like to tell you some of the reasons why Tenerife is so special to me:

✨ I can do yoga outside all year round. There is hardly anywhere else in the world that has such a good climate
✨ Moving abroad means adventure and being able to learn and try out lots of new things. Moving to Tenerife had a huge impact on me and taught me a lot, brought new people into my life and allowed me to have new experiences.
✨ The island has a magical nature: the mountains, the great volcano Teide, the ocean, the lava, the green north - really incredibly beautiful
✨ The island attracts many interesting people with an alternative way of life and there are a lot of events going on here
✨ The cheerful, refreshing Spanish & Canarian culture and so many people here from many different places of the world.

✨ I'm German, living in Tenerife since 2017 🌴
✨ 2019 & 2023 I was in India for my yoga teacher trainings (200hrs & 300 hrs trainings)
✨ hardly a day goes by without yoga for me, my favourite place to practice is outside by the sea
✨ I love our sunny yellow VW bus and road trips
✨ outdoor sports are my passion: surfing, kite surfing, hiking...
✨ I had a horse for many years as a child
✨ I have walked the entire north coast of Spain on the Camino del Norte
✨ Liquorice and ice cream - these are my sweet treats

Samadhi is the final step of the journey of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. 🪷
Breaking the word in half, we see that this final stage is made up of two words; ‘sama’ meaning ‘same’ or ‘equal’, and ‘dhi’ meaning ‘to see’. There’s a reason it’s called realisation. It’s because reaching Samadhi is not about escapism, floating away or being abundantly joyful; it’s about realising the very life that lies in front of us. The ability to ‘see equally’ and without disturbance from the mind, without our experience being conditioned by likes, dislikes or habits, without a need to judge or become attached to any particular aspect; that is bliss. 💫

The seventh limb is ‘meditative absorption’ – when we become completely absorbed in the focus of our meditation. ☁️ And this is when we’re really meditating. ✨All the things we may learn in class are merely techniques in order to help us settle, focus and concentrate. An example of how the 8 limbs build on each other: Asana practice makes our body strong, healthy and pain-free so that we can sit cross-legged in meditation without discomfort. 🧘‍♀️

The sixth limb is Dharana, which means ‘focused concentration’. Dha means ‘holding or maintaining’, and Ana means ‘other’ or ‘something else’. 🌊

Each limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga prepares us for the next. Whereas Pratyahara teaches us to withdraw our focus from the external to the internal, the practice of Dharana teaches us to ‘zoom in’ so we’re able to focus on one thing alone. 💧
